Help

I think I want to find a new job. Working too many doubles in a row at my current job has really made me realize how unhappy I am there. I might be interested in trying something real, not waiting tables.

Hey Xanga,

It's been awhile, but I've been busy. Practically killing myself with work and class and such. Now I am on vacation. In Missouri. I'm probably not gonna make it Springfield this trip being as my parents sold my car awhile back and they need their cars to go to work. I have already been to Rolla to see my brothers track meet. It was interesting and I met some of his Missouri Southern track friends. My sister came up from Springfield to watch too. I went to Cape for Pam's going away party. We're practically going to be neighbors in Astoria, so that makes me happy. Yesterday I had spaghetti dinner at Granny's cause they know it is my favorite. Today my other grandparents are taking me to the casino, so that is gonna be fun. Tomorrow my parents are taking me up to the Cardinals game. I am really enjoying my time in the suburbs. More later, I have a lot of time this week, with not a lot to do and that makes me really happy.

So, I just typed up a whole long post recounting all that has happened in my absence from Xanga. Then my computer shut off and I lost it. I don't feel like typing it out again. So here's the short version.

The trip to Vegas was great. It's great to have beer for breakfast while playing the nickel slots. Campus visit was cool. I am planning on auditioning for the MFA program at UNLV, but they are not taking another class until '07 so I have a little while.

I turned 25, my sister was here, she turned 19, we got drunk, saw God Sees Dog, and saw the Bodies on display at the Seaport- very interesting, definately worth checking out.

I saw Chita during the few days that Dick Van Dyke was doing the show with her. It was a decent show. I liked the performances from actual shows she was in more than the new songs written specifically for this show.

I saw Hairspray for the first time. I probably never would have seen it, but now there is an Idol in it, so I though I would check it out. Diana DeGarmo is so cute and she is really good in the show. She is a sweetheart and was excited that my friend and I had copies of her CD's for her to sign.

Carrie was in town for fashion week, and I probably could have gotten to meet her if I had known.

Kelly performed brilliantly on the Grammy's last night and won 2, so that was cool. I missed her performance and the first award because I was in dance class, but I saw her win for best pop album. Then I downloaded video of the performance and the first win. I hate dial-up, it took so long to download.

Final Destination 3 is coming out tomorrow. So, I will probably check that out ASAP. I have watched the first 2 like 10 times each in the past week.

It takes 1 hour and 45 minutes to walk from Times Square to my apartment.

It takes 45 minutes for me to walk to work from my apartment.

I have walked over the 59th street bridge 5 times, and the Williamsburg bridge 1 time in the past few days. (The time that I walked over the Williamsburg bridge was actually before the strike started. I was leaving a holiday party and decided to walk over the bridge with my friend Dave because it was right there. Looking back it was really stupid, especially since the cab driver we got once we got into Manhattan wanted to drive us back over the bridge and come into Astoria using the BQE. It was stupid and a waste of time, but I am glad that I did it because it was practice for all the times in the past few days when I had no choice other than walking over the bridge because no cab driver would agree to drive me to Queens for a reasonable amout of money.)

You gotta love the red cross, because Tuesday night they were at the end of the bridge with hot chocolate for the weary and frozen travelers.

I have shared one car with complete strangers, and two cabs with more strangers. Those three rides all cost much more than they should have.

Thankfully, this bullshit is over. I think that the transit workers owe us all a big apology for making things so difficult these past few days. And why are they taking so long to get back to work? They just had a three day vacation! The trains should have been running an hour after they called the strike off.

That is all I have to say about that, Vegas was awesome. Perhaps I will write more about that later.

Currently Watching
Firefly - The Complete Series
see related

So I started packing for Vegas. I am flying into St. Louis, meeting my parents and continuing on to Vegas. It just happened to work out that we will be on the same flight. I'm on my own on the way home. I do get to spend a couple of hours in Texas, a state that I am obsessed with but have never really visited. One day I hope to see more of it than just the airport in Dallas.

Got the first disk of Firefly from netflix today. For those unfamiliar, it is the other TV show by Joss Wheedon, who did Buffy and Angel. It was good, I'll probably buy it soon. There is only 1 season so it won't be quite as big an investment as Angel or Buffy were.

Speaking of Buffy/Angel the girl who played Faith is doing a show here in the city. I can't wait to see it.

Adding to my dorkiness, spent a little time on a Superman message board yesterday. There is a rumor that Kelly will be contributing to the soundtrack, so I was trying to get any information I could. I hope this is true and we do get a new song soon.

Speaking of Kelly, she sure did get 2 Grammy noms today. Hopefully she will take them both.
